Harry and I plein air at keston Common yesterday. It was cold but Sunny. A wonderful thing happened Whilst we were painting, a lady came over with a tray of Two large mugs of Tea, and a plate of biscuits. We took a photo of the tray on the leafy ground. Theres Harry packing up, me painting the subject, the tray and the painting. I normally complete a painting at home but although I`m not happy with it but thought I would show it in the raw. I shale paint a bigger one from this.
I thought I would post this Watercolour that I painted 12yrs ago at painting Classes to get an honest comment about it, It is going into an exhibition this friday. I would love to know what my blogger friends say about it.
A typical Cottage and farm at Tandridge Kent. This was painted from a photograph that I had taken whilst painting the Barn that I mentioned before. It`s a beautiful Area, with several subjects to paint from. Harry and I were painting there about two weeks ago, he painted the Cottage and I painted the Barn. We will certainly be going back there weather permitting.
I did this painting from a photograph that a friend sent me. The boats belong to him and he built them himself, clever lad eh? He is also a very good Artist, very detailed. I`m afraid I haven`t done his boats justice.
I started painting around 1990 and loved it straight away.
I started with watercolour, and then after about 15 years I moved to Oils and acrylics. I still paint the odd watercolour to keep my hand in so to speak. I love impressionism. The only time I use detail is when I paint portraits. Otherwise it is my interpretation of the subject.
I am retired but still find it hard to find time to paint. I reckon I can manage to do a painting about three times a week.
Originally I was a Motor Mechanic. Then, for the eighteen years leading up to my retirement, I worked
for Barclays bank.
