I have painted this subject before, so I have painted it again to see if I could go about it in a different way.
I think it has worked out a better painting than the first attempt. This scene is in Norwich where my Son lives. we went for a walk to see if there were any subjects that I fancied painting. I spotted this one with another possible subject for which I have already painted it.
Another Thames Barge. It`s called "the Tollesbury". I want to explaine to all Boat experts that I hardly know anything about Barges or any boats come to that. And I paint these lovely Barges the way I want to paint them, and not with all the technical bits and pieces. I do apologize to those who get upset because I haven`t put this and that what should be there.
Another Thames Barge. I never tire of painting these beautiful Barges. This one I think is called The May. It was acquired by Tate and Lyle the Sugar people. They purchased it in 1964. There is another barge that I want`to paint soon.
I started painting around 1990 and loved it straight away.
I started with watercolour, and then after about 15 years I moved to Oils and acrylics. I still paint the odd watercolour to keep my hand in so to speak. I love impressionism. The only time I use detail is when I paint portraits. Otherwise it is my interpretation of the subject.
I am retired but still find it hard to find time to paint. I reckon I can manage to do a painting about three times a week.
Originally I was a Motor Mechanic. Then, for the eighteen years leading up to my retirement, I worked
for Barclays bank.
