Our Rot` Sandy. 10x12, oils on board.

This is a portrait of our Dog Sandy. She died about 12yrs ago. She was a Rottweiler but didn`t live up`to her image that people seem to give Rottweilers. She was a brilliantly lovable Animal and she was our baby. I have painted and drew her several times and I think this is the best likeness of her that I have done.

  2. Thank you Joan. She was soft and loving. I still get a lump in my throat every time I think of her. Rosemary feels the same. I have just started a large painting of a scene near Charring cross Station. It`s going to take me for ever I think. Lots of drawing and wondering why I started it in the first place. All the best my friend.

  4. Hi Mariano.
Thank you for your nice comment my friend. Yes, we still miss her and think it will be like that always. If we were a bit younger we would get another Rot`. But they are so powerful, he would have me over in no time. I`m about to check on your blog. You haven`t had anything on there for a while. I don`t think I will be posting for a few days now because of this mammoth painting I have just started, well, mammoth for me anyway. All the best Mariano and hope everything is much better for you all.

  6. Hi Teresa.
Thank you very much for the nice pat on the back. Rosemary and I often talk about the things she got up to. I don`t reckon we will ever forget her. Thanks again Teresa, and all the best.

  7. I was out with my daughter and her dog (mixed breed and sassy) a couple of years ago and we reached a low stone wall separating us from a farmer's property. Waiting, with her paws on the stone wall was a rottweiller. We froze. Our dog started the growl routine - he was on a lead but the other dog was just free. We tried to hurry past but the two dogs were determined to meet face to face. All of a sudden the rottweiller decided she liked our dog and she proceeded to lick him all over his face. He was a bit embarrassed I think (lost his street cred). So yes, rottweillers can be lovely dogs. I bet you miss her still. A lovely painting and a wonderful memory Vic.

  8. Sheila, thank you so much for that wonderful story about that Rottweiler. It goes to prove that they are not all killers eh? I really enjoyed reading your story, thank you. And thank you for the nice compliment on the painting. All the best Sheila.

  10. Thank you very much Celeste. Thank you for visiting my Blog. I do look at your blog whenever I can. I have seventeen followers and look at those first, again, whenever I can. I was introduced to yours by Mariano. And I know he is a great follower of your paintings, and I find them brilliant. Of course my favourites of yours are the Landscapes. Thanks again Celeste, and all the best.

  11. Vic, You are really good at painting dogs! I believe you could make a living at it. Many people out there have beloved animals, dogs included and want a painting of them. sincerely, nancy

  12. Hi Nancy. Lovely to hear from you. Thank you so much for the pat on the back for me. It`s really lovely when another Artist likes a painting that you have done, isn`t it? Thanks again Nancy, and all the best.
    Vic.
P.S I`m painting my Sons White Cat fluffy. He has something wrong with his hind leg, and has a splint on it.

  14. Thank you very much for your nice comment Sue. She was a wonderful part of our family. So timid as well. We still miss her very much. I`m glad you are getting the hang of your blog now. At times it can be very frustrating. But it is worth it to be able to talk to other Artist`s all over the world. Joan, your cousin is one such lovely lady and Artist, and it`s great to be able to talk to her about Art and things in general. Thanks again Sue and all the best.
    Vic.
