Seagull at Broadstairs. 6x8, Acrylics on board

I took a photo of this chap when we visited Broadstairs. I couldn`t resist him for a painting. But just as I clicked the shutter, he turned to look at me. I said to him Thanks.

  1. This is a lovely painting Vic. I like your soft brushstrokes and subtle highlights. In Bath we tend to hate seagulls but you're making them lovable again here.

  2. You did a lovely job on his feathers Vic; I can feel how soft to the touch they'd be. It was gracious of the bird to give you a profile.

  3. Hi Valerie.
Thank you very much for your comment. I`m glad that the painting of the Seagull has made you possibly love them again. Although there was a rather large Tree in the Garden next to ours that housed two Pigeons. Half of it hung over our Garden and, you guessed it, they used our garden as their toilet. But the Tree was pulled down yesterday so ( Great )they won`t be messing in our Garden anymore. All the best Valerie.

  4. Hi Linda.
Thank you very much for your comment. Yes I was very lucky to have him or her pose for me eh? Otherwise it would all have been a back view. When we were at Broadstairs, I received a penalty charge for parking ellegally ( My fault ). All the best Linda.

  6. Hi Jane.
Thank you for your visit and your comment. I`m glad you like the painting, Drawing isn`t one of my strong points I`m afraid. Drawing is something that you are brilliant at. I love your Portraits, I have left a comment. Thanks again Jane and all the best.

  16. Well done my friend. It is great when the subject cooperates with the artist. Your drawing and painting skills art top notch. I see you are really enjoying acrylics, so am I. Did you check out Roger Bansemer site. Vic, just google his name, he does free 1/2 hr. videos, he a joy to watch. He gives great tips and he even skyped me when I asked about his glass palette that he created. Let me know what you thinkl.

  17. Hi Joan.
Thank you for your top notch comment my friend, it`s top notch. I`ve had a look at Roger Bensemer and think that he is a wonderful detail Artist. I do prefer more impressionistic type paintings but I have to say that he is a top notch Artist. I`m enjoying Acrylics very much. I can`t stop using them for my studio work but I still use my Artisan Water souble paints for plein air, i don`t know why though. I`ve been going out regularly with my friend Harry lately, and enjoying it very much. I hope you have overcome the new Computer problems Joan, theres nothing worse than Computer problems is there? Thanks again for your usual nice comment Joan and all the best.
