St Nicholas Church. 16x12 Acrylic
St Nicholas Church is at Chislehurst. Harry and I went over there two weeks ago and did a sketch of it, this is the result from the sketch with the help of a photo. It`s a 12th
Century Church. It stands in a big area of grass with some trees, and is opposite a lovely pub where we have been a couple of times for a meal. I`ll post a couple of shots of Harry and I there later.

Vic your landscapes are beautiful. One after the other are amazing. I particularly like the bird on high and your subtle greens, so calming. I'm envious of you and your painting buddy. How fortunate you are.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a lovely scene captured so well. I particularly like the warm glow you have given this, as though it is late in the day as the sun is setting.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, Vic!! This is definitely a favorite..although, I seem to say this a lot with your paintings. It looks like a photo! The greens are wonderful and the sky finishes this gorgeous piece!! Love it.

So striking Vic. It reminds me of an Edward Hopper the way the lighting hits the side of the structure so wonderfully.

Looking good Vic! I like that the steeple isn't centered in the painting, I've seen that a lot and your design here is more exciting to view. Nice job composing the clouds to enhance the steeple too!

ReplyDeleteVic, this is fabulous. I struggle with darks and so I really appreciate the strong shadows in this which really makes the picture sing. The trees and sky are just wonderful. I like everything about this, very much. Kudos!!!

Hi John.
ReplyDeletethank you very much also for your lovely comment. You say you struggle with your darks, no problem John, I use Ultramarine, burnt sienna, a lttle Yellow ochre and a little of sap green for my dark greens. try it John, you won`t go wrong mate. all the best.
Vic.
I love what you are doing. It's a good combination of light and dark, particularly w/the greenery in this scene and the placement and handling of the slight curve in the road.

Hi Vic,
ReplyDeleteI tried to post the other night but it did not go through. I love your painting, and the fact that it is from the 12th century is so interesting. The lines of the church are beautiful as well as your landscape surrounding it. Well done, Vic.
