The Spritsail Barge Ena. She was built in 1906 and bought for £875. Then another £232 fitting her out. There is a lot written about her but this blog is about painting and not too much facts.

  1. Dear Vic,

You have found your subject that is clearly a joy for you to paint. Just like Degas became the Great Dagas, when he painted the ballet dancers. I predict you will be know for these magnificent barge paintings. Well done my friend.

    All the best to you,
    Joan

  5. Victor we love facts! Painting come from life, life is full of fact that interest us and move us to the canvas. Look at my George Washington sketch done just because I'm reading about him and found it interesting that the Father of our country wasn't much of a military man when he was put in charge of the First Continental Army. It took the Revolution to make him a gifted general.

Facts or not, I do love your ship paintings. They are very romantic. Happy valentines day Victor.

  6. Hi Linda.
Point taken my friend. It is that I can`t write too much on my blog because it is too much effort for me. Take a look at Hilda`s blog, she receives eighty and ninety comments, and she answers every one of them. I greatly admire her stamina. There is a lot written about the Barge Ena, too much writing for me to put down i`m afraid. I love reading everyone elses comments, especially yours because they can be so funny and interesting. There you go, i`m going on and on, enough. I`m so glad that you like my boat paintings Linda. Thank you for your nice comment. All the best Linda.
