Wow Vic, I give you credit, you did a great job. How long did it take you to complete this portrait. I've been trying to go back to portraits and I know they're not easy. I commend you my friend, excellent.
Hi Joan. Thanks for your great comment. I have had mixed comments on this one. five of our club members said it was me and they liked it. A friend of mine said it was definitely me but a bit younger, and one of my Sons said it was a good painting but not too much like me. As I`ve always said, you can`t win them all can you? It took me about six hours over a period of three days. My self portrait drawings seem to be a better likeness though. Thanks again Joan and all the best. Vic.
I started painting around 1990 and loved it straight away.
I started with watercolour, and then after about 15 years I moved to Oils and acrylics. I still paint the odd watercolour to keep my hand in so to speak. I love impressionism. The only time I use detail is when I paint portraits. Otherwise it is my interpretation of the subject.
I am retired but still find it hard to find time to paint. I reckon I can manage to do a painting about three times a week.
Originally I was a Motor Mechanic. Then, for the eighteen years leading up to my retirement, I worked
for Barclays bank.
