Red Top. 12x17, oils on board.

I did this painting from a photo that I got from the Internet, Photos for Artist`s. I think it is in the Lake District. I`ve added a few things of my own, like the cyclist and a couple of figures. Also I made the sky different to the photo.

  1. Lovely scene Vic and beautifully painted too! Looks like it may be the Lake District to me too - all those lovely white and light coulored stone cottages. Best wishes Vic, Michael.

  2. Hi Michael.
Thanks for your nice comment mate. Yes it does look like the lake district doesn`t it. There is a sign there but I couldn`t make out the writing on it. I`m off out again tomorrow over to my old haunts, a place called black Heath. It`s a vast area where a lot of Football is played. Also Houses dotted about amongst Trees etc`. Thanks again my friend and all the best.

  3. Adding figures to a scene adds life to the painting. I like it. I like that you broke up the blank sky with some cloud activity too.

  4. Hi Linda.
Thank you very much for your comment. Where ever I can, I will put a figure or two, I love them in a painting. In the photo, the sky was a very pale blue, almost white. That is why I put the clouds in just to put some drama! in. Thanks again Linda and all the best.

I always like paintings of street scenes. I particularly like your figures, especially the cyclist. Your figures always have good movement.

  12. Hi Hilda.
Lovely to talk to you again. Thank you very much for your comment. I was rather pleased with how the Cyclist came out. I think it is the first time I have painted a Cyclist. All the best Hilda.
