I haven`t got any paintings to post at the moment, so i thought I would post these sketches that i did at our club Monday afternoon from photographs that i take of people when i`m out sketching. these sketches I use for any paintings that I do. I time myself to take no more that five minutes to do these sketches ( Pen and Ink ). I find it is very good exercise. I have just bought myself a couple of Moleskin Sketch pads, I`m dying to try them out on Thursday and Sunday, yippee!.

  1. These are really good sketches Vic, they make good practise work and also useful for paintings later on.

  3. Hi Ann.
I`m glad you like them. I do love to sketch whenever I get the chance, which is almost every day. I`m out tomorrow, so apart from an oil sketch (i hope ), I will try out my new moleskin Pads. All the best Ann.

  6. Hi Hilda.
Thank you for your comment my friend. Yes Hilda, I think most Artist`s do this by way of their reference pictures. When I do a landscape, most of the time there isn`t a figure in the subject, this is where they come in handy. We went out this morning and I did an Oil sketch, and Harry did a pencil sketch of the same subject. It was a great morning. All the best Hilda.

  10. Hi Kim.
Thank you very much for your nice comment, and giving me your Palette. It`s Strange really because the only two I haven`t in my palette is naples yellow and Cobult blue. The cobult Blue i don`t get because it is too expencive. Thank you again kim and all the best to you.

  12. Hi Joan.
Glad you like the sketches my friend. Joan, I used my moleskin sketching pads on last Thursday for the first time and they were great. I also used them on Sunday last at Hastings with the club. I did a 6x8 painting sketch in my pochade box, and about eight pen and ink sketches in my Moleskin pad. I think you would need the pads that can take water colour washes, you couldn`t use the sketch pads for washes, I wouldn`t think so. All the best Joan.
