This scene is from a place called Chevening. I went there last Friday with my usual painting gear, my rucksack and pochade. I intended to paint the local Church, but disaster - when I opened my pochade to start painting, there wasn`t a board to paint on. So instead of a painting I did a sketch and took my usual Photo. This is the result. It was a rather dull and coldish day, so I depicted it as "just stopped raining."

Hi Vic,
ReplyDeletei was waiting for this one! A real nice painting, on your stile ...plus. Your knife work is stunning, and i think without knowing you are applying a sgraffito technique. Where the tree meet the sky is my favorite part...the sgraffito.
Bravo one can feel it just rained. Continue using the palette knife, who knows where it may leeds you.
Hi Mariano my friend. What a fantastic comment,
ReplyDeletethank you. I don`t tnink it had been raining
before I had got there, but it looked as though
it had. I will answer your email tomorrow, okay?
All the best.
Vic.
What a nice, moody atmosphere... just like I remember an overcast/rainy day in England being! I really like the thick, yummy color. How long does it take such a painting to dry when done with your palette knife ?
ReplyDeleteHi Vic, I love these paintings of England. You are certainly creating beautiful paintings with you palette knife. There is so much to remember when painting plein air. All is well, you did a great painting from your photo.
ReplyDeleteThank you Teresa. I`m over the moon with these
ReplyDeletelovely comments from great Artist`s as yourself.
For the paintings to dry, it takes about two weeks for touch dry. So long isn`t it? I have got to find a way of storing them until they are dry. All the best Teresa.
Vic
Thank you Joan for your lovely comment. I was
ReplyDeletepleased with this one. I will have`to find a way
of reducing the amount of paint I apply to these
palette knife paintings, they are taking too long to dry. Joan, don`t neglect your oil paintings will you? I love your watercolours but love your oils better, but only because I
prefer the oil medium. All the best my friend.
Vic
Hi Vic, thank you. I love oils most of all also. Vic, one other thing. Follow Alex Perez. He is a wonderful artist and person living in Chile. I would love for him to see your work. Ask Mariano about him. Your friend Joan
ReplyDeleteHi Joan. Thank you very much for your comments
ReplyDeleteand communicating with me. You are a great motivator for me. Now Alex Perez is a brilliant Artist, and not too sure that he would want to see my work. At the moment, I think
that he is a very busy man, and not want to bother with me. ( If only he would ). Mariano is a friend of his I know. And he is on Alexes
Site. Joan, please keep our lovely chats up, I love them. Thank you my friend and all the best.
Vic.
Hi Vic, I felt the same way about my work and Alex. I was so surprised when he invited me. Vic your work is outstanding. I found just following Alex blog and seeing his incredible work was wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI also enjoy our chats, you motivate me as well. Have a great day.
Your friend
Joan
Hi Joan. How did Alex get to see your work
ReplyDeletethen? I would love to be invited, and thanks for
believing in my work. Tea time now, I can smell
it. All the best my friend.
Vic
So typically English, this scene, Vic. I really like it. Nice colour harmony and from just a sketch!
ReplyDeleteHi Sheila. Thank you for your comment. I`m afraid I didn`t paint it entirely from my Sketch.
ReplyDeleteI always start off with the sketch, hoping that
I won`t need the photograph but half the time I
do use it mainly for confirmation of the tone.
We can`t win them all can we Sheila? Your todays painting is superb. I love that era as well. All the best Sheila.
Vic.
I like your knife paintings too victor. This almost looks like a frosted cookie! yum.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for your comment Nancy.
ReplyDeleteI don`t know if you have watched Alex Perez`s
Palette Knife painting on his Videos, they are
brilliant. All the best Nancy.
Vic.
Yay! Rainy days! :) I'm glad to see you like them too. I too love all that texture and thick paint you've got going on here.
ReplyDeleteThank you karen. Yes, it`s great if the Atmosphere comes out as you want it to eh?
ReplyDeleteAll the best Karen.
