A Kent Farm was painted from a photo but started from an oil sketch. My friend and I went out for a couple of hours locally and decided on this subject. I did an oil painting there but a different composition. I didn`t like it so hence, this one.
Lovely painting Vic. Fabulous rich greens as always, super perspective and aerial perspective too. I love it - it's a painting I just want to walk into :)
Hi Michael. Thank you for your nice comment mate. I really enjoyed painting the original oil sketch. It didn`t turn out how I wanted it to, but it was a good time had by all so they say. Michael, I really liked your gouache sketches, You have got me interested in that mediun now. Can you give me any tips mate? Thanks again Michael and all the best. Vic.
Hi Vic. I use Winsor & Newtons's designer's gouache which you can get in starter sets of ten tubes from Amazon (supplied by Jacksons) for about £15 and then build up any extra colours for a few quid a tube as you need them. For brushes you can use synthetics, mixed sable/synthetics or pure sables, probably even hogs if you want to. The main thing is not to apply the paint too thick like impasto oils. It is opaque but it's meant to be applied in thin layers. You can also dilute it to watercolour consistency. It dries dull like watercolour but you can varnish it (apparently). Have a go, Vic, you could use it for preliminary sketches plein air and then use them at home to do a bigger finished oil painting!
Wow, I am astounded at the amount of detail in this painting. The wonderful thing is that it feels fresh! I love those long shadows that lay across the road in the front of the painting.
Thank you Linda. I`m glad you like it. It is a lovely area to paint. Just walk three hundred yards and there is a couple more subjects. All the best Linda. Vic.
Just had a problem posting my comment. I will give it another try. All I can say about this painting is BRAVO. I agree with Michael, this is a place I would love to take a stroll and just enjoy the day. Well done my friend.
Hi Joan. Glad you like it my friend. Thank you for your nice comment. It is a lovely area to paint, that`s if you don`t mind the odd tractor passing very closely by. And of course, the usual flying brats. It`s only about 30 min` driving time away. Thanks again my friend and all the best. Vic.
Hi Ralph. Thanks for visiting my blog with your lovely comment. I have a long way to go to catch your standard up. Thanks again Ralph and all the best. Vic.

Haven't seem all of them yet, Vic, but what I see so far is wonderful. I really do like this one especially.
