Rain Imminent. 9x12, oils on board.
When having a break from painting the Bridge at Aylesford, I walked along the towpath,
(I think that`s what you call it) I spotted this subject and it was just about to rain, so I took a photo of it in the hope I could do a painting from it. It really did look this overcast.

Lovely! It especially looks good because we are in drought now and high temperatures. I would love to step into your painting!
ReplyDeleteHi Linda.
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it. Within five minutes of me taking the photo, it poured down. I just had time to get back to my easel and gear to drag them under a tree. Everybody was already under there. All the best Linda.

Hi Vic,
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite atmospheric conditions is before the rain. The dark sky and everything else is illuminated, just like you have captured. You are a master at color and tone, well done my friend. Thank you for sharing a part of your world and life.
All the best to you,
Joan
Hi Joan.
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it my friend. As I said to Linda above, I just managed to get my stuff under a Tree before it came down. I couldn`t do anymore to my bridge painting. I`m glad you enjoyed reading that story Joan. I must say, when I read it, it took me back all those years. All the best Joan.
Vic.
Beautifully painted, Vic. The light on the building as well as the trees is perfect...I can feel the rain coming!!
ReplyDeleteHi Hilda.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment. I think this painting was the quickest painting that I have ever done. Not that I rushed it, it just worked out that way. All the best Hilda.
Vic.
Hi Vic. I agree with Joan on this one. I love those menacing skies when the sky is darker than a lot of the surrounding landscape - just before a thunderstorm is best - and you captured the effect just right :)
ReplyDeleteHi Michael.
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it mate. It really did pour down five minutes after I took the photo. Just got back intime to put my gear safely under a tree, where, incidentally the rest of the mob were already. All the best.
