Barge at Heybridge Basin. 9x12, oils on board

I painted this one at Heybridge Basin last year. It`s a great venue with lots of subjects to choose from. I went there with our club members on a lovely Summers day. my friend and I had cream teas. I didn`t mention it to my Wife.

  1. Hi Vic, this painting is outstanding. It looks great on my blog. My little family is off to enjoy the holiday sites. No babysitting this weekend plenty of time to study. I'll be looking forward to your new work. Wow, it's already 8:35pm in England. Enjoy your evening my friend.

  3. This is a wonderful painting, I especially like the way the windows and the rigging set up a syncopated rhythm! The vertical reds make the composition complex and strong without being busy, and that green shape (deck covering) pulls the whole thing together so well. This painting is a good example of making it look easy, but of course, it's not!

  4. Hi Carol.
Thank you very much for your lovely comment. This type of Barge is called Thames Barge. They did ply their trade along the Thames Estuary. Years ago of course. Now the few that are left are used for enthusiasts. All the best Carol.
