St` Johns Church. 9x12, oils on board.

I did this painting last wednesday morning. My friend and I went to a local subject near by. He did a painting looking the other way to me. I settled for this Church. I wasn`t too sure whether to post it or not. But a dear blogger friend of mine liked it, and convinced me to post it as it is. I usually complete my plein air paintings at home. Also a close friend called in to see us and she liked it also. So here it is.

Rain Imminent. 9x12, oils on board.

When having a break from painting the Bridge at Aylesford, I walked along the towpath,
(I think that`s what you call it) I spotted this subject and it was just about to rain, so I took a photo of it in the hope I could do a painting from it. It really did look this overcast.

This painting was done mainly from a painting that I did onsite at Aylesford Kent. I managed to spend about an hour and half on the painting before the heavens opened up. There were five of us at this spot and we managed to get shelter under a tree. Although it was a terrible day weather wise, we all had a great time.

My Son asked me if I would paint two Head profiles for the cover of his book that he is writing, this is the result. He likes it and accepted it.

Margaret, John and Bill at Rye. 9x12 oils on board.

Margaret, John and Bill was painted from a photo that I took whilst having a rainy day out painting at Rye. This is the day that I dislocated my shoulder, silly me eh? That is my pochade at the bottom in the right hand corner. When I was painting, I had an umbrella for shelter. The rest of the mob had that tree for shelter. This scene is showing a break in the weather.

A Kent Farm. 9x12, oils on board.

A Kent Farm was painted from a photo but started from an oil sketch. My friend and I went out for a couple of hours locally and decided on this subject. I did an oil painting there but a different composition. I didn`t like it so hence, this one.

Not exactly what I intended, but I carried on and ended up with something different.

Did this painting this morning. My friend Harry and I decided to paint locally. We both did the same subject, his was in Watercolour and mine as usual was Oils. It was a brilliant couple of hours. Nice and warm, we were in the shade as you will notice with the photograph that I took of Harry. I should have used my flash on him. never mind eh?

Mystery Lady. 9x12, oils on board.

I titled this one Mystery Lady because of the following reasons. I went to a place called Rottingdean, Brighton with our Art club a week ago. I already had done one painting and a sketch when a friend of mine said that he was going to take a walk into a lovely walled garden that had belonged to Rudyard Kipling, The famous Author and Poet. He lived at this beautiful house and Gardens. So I said that I would come with him. As we were about to walk into these Gardens, an elderly lady was just infront of us and my mate asked me if I believed in Ghost`s, I said that I wasn`t too sure. He said well, that lady is the wife of Rudyard Kipling in Ghost form. I laughed at that but I thought she would make a nice subject, so I tooke a photo of her and that is the lady in my painting.
