Steamer. 9x12", oils on board.

At last I was able to do some painting. There isn`t a lot to say about this one except that it is a train that was around about the 1930 to 1950. It is one like this that I caught my Thumb in the door as I was closing it. I was about ten years old at the time, and my Mum and I was on our way back to the Hopfields after visiting our Home after it was incinerated during the war. Don`t hold me to the dates. All I can remember is that of my age, roughly Ten years old. My Mum shouted to a porter that I have got my Thumb jammed in the Door, and when we got to the next station, another porter was waiting to open the door for me. I have still got the dent in my thumb.

  1. Hi Vic,
It's Sunday morning 7:08 am in the US. I cannot wait for my grandson to see your painting. He loves trains and has a wonderful collection.

What an amazing story about your youth. To travel to a home that was lost during the war. For a little boy of ten to have his thumb stuck in the door, how terrifying for you and your mum.
All in all you have once again completed another wonderful painting my friend. Keep the paintings and stories coming. Have a wonderful day.

  2. Ouch! I'm glad your sore thumb never stopped you painting Vic. I particularly like this because like me, you are an impressionist painter. It can be very frustrating to paint something like a train that usually commands great attention to detail ... you have made a great job of this.

  6. Hi joan.
Thats happened to me a couple of times. I don`t think it is our fault. Thanks for your comment my friend. I enjoyed painting this one. Also the story took me back to that time. My Mum couldn`t open the door,It was jammed because of my Thumb that was in it. Love your latest postings Joan. Well done. All the best.
    Vic.
